What testimony matters, now? Certainly not to him. His great
intelligence and verve are no more of service to humanity, his laughter
and smile only memory to his friends. There is no solace in words,
photographs. What bitter gods take him and allow murderous wretches to
see the sun rise, feel the wind or the touch of a lover's hand? The
questions to which we will never have answers - Why? What if? Was it
better not to have had the chance to say goodbye? I will live every day
as if it were to be my last, and keep thinking of him, and others lost,
all my days.
